About this Item
Gift quality1st edition exlib hardcover in blue paper covered boards with a few small random soil marks. Tape marks on pastedowns and dj flaps, all pages present, no call tags on dj backstrip, displays beautifully on the shelf with its' wrap-around art that matches the color frontis. Original, un-clipped dj in mylar has color loss at tips and spine ends and one 1/2" closed tear and crease at head of frt panel. White background rear panel shows light surface soil along with a photograph of the pretty author and an explanation ave the Ajax books (which are true stories for the author!). Mary was looking forward to the drove. She lived on a big cattle-station (farm) in the Australian bush. Eight hundred of her father's cattle were to be driven slowly along the stock routes where there was feed for them, and then to the trucking-yards at a railway siding. It would take two or three months, and Mary was going, with her two horses Tam and Belle, and her three dogs Ajax, Algy and Ben; to ride all day, and sleep in a bedroll under the stars. There was just one problem: her new governess was about to arrive. Harriet Goodwillie: her name didn't sound promising, and she was straight from England. But Goody was to surprise Mary, and have some shocks herself, before the drove was finished. Seller Inventory # R46814
