First edition. Tall 8vo., rebound in marble paper wrappers, paper label on the upper wrapper, xxvi, 56pp. An inscription on the half title o/w a fine copy. This poem when published put Pierpont "for the time being in the front rank of American poets." (DAB). Pierpont was the grandfather of J. P. Morgan. Wigelin 1094. (there was a second edition Boston: 1817, and a 3rd edition also Boston: 1817.). Seller Inventory # 18915
