Original illustrated green boards with the unclipped, pictorial dust-jacket, that is in a nice bright condition with just some rubbing and creasing at both ends of the spine to detract. 256 pages. Frontispiece. Near gift inscription, dated 1939, to verso of half-title. A Fine copy in the VG+ jacket. A prolific English children's author, known primarily for her girls' school stories, Ethel Mary Talbot was born in in Sutton Coldfield and had at least eight sisters and one brother. After a peripatetic existence she eventually settled in Edinburgh, where she shared a house with her friend and fellow school story author E.M. de Foubert, from 1914 to 1916. Talbot remained in Edinburgh until the 1930s, at which point she moved to London, then Hayward's Heath, where she died in 1944. Seller Inventory # 14727
