Undated, but likely published in 1897-1900 time-frame. Front cover gilt vignette remains bright. Cover lettered in gilt. Blue endpapers with gift inscription front free endpaper. Spine faded. Pages a bit toned at periphery. Four full-page color illustrations byEmile Cohl, with black and white text illustrations on every page. 39 pages. Small sticker "Brentano's Paris" front pastedown. Text is in French. Polichinelle is French for Pulcinella, the puppet, a classical character originated in the 17th century, appearing in countless forms, embodied the Neopolitan simplest man.
