84 pp, title-page illustration and 7 chapter head pieces in colors by Mallette Dean; octavo, yellow-green cloth shelfback with printed title label, green and beige decorative boards. Text is from articles by Helen Hunt Jackson published in the New York Independent in October and November 1872. They were later collected in her 1878 book "Bits of Travel." This volume the 137th from the Book Club of California. Printed by Mallette Dean at Kentfield, CA with Van Dijck monotype composition by Mackenzie & Harris.
