Harry Butcher was President of the CBS Radio outlet in Washington, D. C. and was commissioned an officer in the U. S. Naval Reserve. Butcher was named General Eisenhower's Naval Aide in 1942 - not as a Naval officer but as a person with whom Eisenhower could speak frankly and who would raise alternate views.
