Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Piper, John (illustrator). 1st Edition. Dustwrapper, 4to, maroon cloth with small gilt depiction of an owl on cover, pp.320. Profusely illustrated including 10 compositions designed by John Piper. Edited by Paul Foulkes. A historical survey of Western Philosophy in its social and political setting ; an exposition of the history of philosophy combined with critical discussion with some emphasis on the great Greek thinkers. Dustwrapper rather creased and subject to small curled splits along its top edge, particularly on the rear cover. This has been a little crudely repaired on the reverse, including the addition of a piece of coloured paper to replace the loss of a strip of ther original from around the head of the spine. Some of the clear plastic coating to the wrapper has peeled off in places. Cloth clean and bright save a small sunned strip at the head of the spine. Name to front endpaper. Contents clean and sound. Very good in goodish dustwrapper. Heavy book weighing c1950g when wrapped, and so by exceeding the default weight of 1000g used to provide the postage quotation, will incur extra postage . This, at cost, will be requested at time of order for overseas shipping or 1st class mailing in the UK ( 2nd class UK unaffected ).
