Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. - (illustrator). Unique Publication. This is a unique book. It has an ISBN that is unrecognisable. ISBN is [0297995171] - ABE TELLS ME: The ISBN is not valid. - It is an advance copy sent to the Editor of Sussex Life Magazine in July 1972. [who was at that time: Tom Sobey [Thomas R. Sobey] The book is signed by Thomas R. Sobey to the front blank endpage. Sobey himself is an author. Besides writing a book about Hastings [East Sussex], he also wrote an article about Leonard Woolf [husband of Virginia Woolf], for Sussex Life Magazine in 1965. The book for sale in this listing, was not released to the marketplace until the following month [August 1972]. - There is an accompanying letter from the publishers [Weidenfeld & Nicolson] The letter states: 27th July 1972. To the Editor [Sussex Life]. Dear Sir, We publish on Thursday, 17th August David Thomson's very readable and interesting biography of Laurence Sterne, WILD EXCURSIONS, and I thought you might like the opportunity of an early look at the enclosed copy of the book. etc.etc.etc. - Signed by the Publicity Director for Weidenfeld & Nicolson: Jeremy Hadfield. [letter will be included with the book]. - The book itself: The original dustjacket houses the book. It has been priceclipped. Stated on front prelim: Jacket design by M. Harrison [Nicolas Thirkell Associates]. Portrait of Laurence Sterne by Reynolds [courtesy of Lady Mersey]. With 8 pages of plates. There are a few small closed edge tears and a small chip to the rear of the jacket, which is now housed in a removable archival sleeve. - Boards are light brown cloth with gold lettering to the spine, in a very nice clean condition. Hand signed by Thomas R. Sobey Lewes 1972. to the first blank endpage. Very light foxing to endpages, and occasionally throughout the book; otherwise the pages are beautifully clean. All pages are tightly bound. The numerous plates accompany the history very well indeed. - Thanks for your interest. Hand-Signed by another author:
