A particularly well-illustrated unit history. One coloured plate is by the artist Rex Whistler who was killed in action with the regiment on D-Day.All three battalions served throughout the war. 1 and 2 Bns were in France in 1939; 3 Bn fought in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. 1 and 2 Bns formed part of Guards Armoured Division from Normandy and on through NW Europe to the Rhine.
