The missing episode from Through the looking glass, which was cut by Carroll from the published story. Thought to be lost, proofs of the excised pages turned up and were sold by Sotheby s, and eventually came into the hands of the Lewis Carroll society of North America who prepared a private edition for their members. This edition is the first time the work was issued commercially to the general public. The dust wrapper is slightly worn around the edges, some discolouration to the back of the dust wrapper and a small red damp stain on top edge. Inside there is the Ex libris plate of C.H.L.Bledisloe on blank endpaper, a neat inscription dated 19977 in biro and one fox mark., Size 22 x 14cm (8.75 x 5.5inches)Bookplate of Christopher Bathurst, 3rd Viscount Bledisloe (1934-2009), Barrister and politician. The bookplate is designed by his son Rupert Bathhurst.
