Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Brett Helquist (illustrator). The definitive - and only - book for anyone interested in learning more about the alarmingly elusive author. Here is a collection of evidence - writings, annotated photographs, mysterious diagrams, and several disorientating maps, accompanied by captions, an introduction, and an extensive index. Together, these pieces will shed light on a life that until now has been unfortunately shrouded in darkness, and will finally answer the questions on everyone's mind: what do we really know about Lemony Snicket? And why is he so interested in the lives of the Baudelaire orphans? The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

First Edition
[Children's Fantasy] COMPLETE UK FIRST EDITIONS. 14 volumes. Octavo (19 x 13 x 28cm). With in-text illustrations by Helquist. Volumes 5, 7, and the autobiography complete with wrap-around bands. Volume 8 with the dust-jacket. All in publisher's colour paper-covered boards illustrated by Helquist. Light wear to volumes 12 and 13, and sunning to spine of volume 6. Near fine. "Mr. Handler's literary opera buffa of calamity has been a children's book phenomenon second only to Harry Potter in this era. Narrated by Lemony Snicket, a sketchy figure whose own life becomes increasingly part of the plot, the tales chronicle the unrelenting misfortunes of the three Baudelaire siblings, who become orphans when their parents perish in a terrible fire." Condition: Fine. First edition. Terrific collection of Lemony Snicket works, including first printings of every volume of A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS - 8 of which are stamped and inscribed by the author, and one with the rare dust jacket - along with Snicket's autobiography, stamped and signed by Handler. Chronicling the arduous adventures of Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire, this collection includes all 13 volumes from THE BAD BEGINNING to THE END, with more than half of the books containing Lemony Snicket's specific method of signing: an embossed stamp with ink inscription "with all due respect" and the date. THE AUSTERE ACADEMY (volume 5) is not only stamped/inscribed, but has the rare original dust jacket: several, but not all, of the titles were available in jacket only if ordered directly from the publisher, and very few were printed. Included is a copy of LEMONY SNICKET: THE UNAUTHORIZED AUTOBIOGRAPHY, with an introduction by Daniel Handler as "the official representative." This book is not only stamped/inscribed, but is signed by Handler as Daniel Handler. THE SLIPPERY SLOPE has a post-it of conveyance from Handler, signed "D.," and the inscription includes "who ought to know better." Also present, but not inscribed, is a copy of THE BLANK BOOK, the "Magnets for Misfortune" refrigerator magnet, and THE MISFORTUNE TELLING CARDS (envelope worn, with ink notes on one panel).
