The Text Block is clean, cream-colored, tight, straight and square, with yellow topstain, deckled fore-edges and no markings of any kind. The Binding is full burgundy cloth (color uniform throughout) with bright gilt embossed man on horseback to front board, bright gilt title, etc., to spine, unmarked endpapers, and all corners square and sharp. The pictorial Dust Jacket, showing images of Rome, is bright and intact but for a chip to the bottom front panel and another to the head of the spine, with the original price ($4.00) intact on the front flap. The back panel of the Dust Jacket contains a photograph of the author; she is reading Go Tell It On the Mountain by James Baldwin, while in her lap is The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir.
