Book First Edition
Hardback. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 1949. First edition. 287pp. Elinor M. Brent-Dyer (1894-1969) was a popular British writer of books for children, best known for her 'Chalet School' novels, set at a chalet school in the Tyrol. This is the twentieth in the series, and in this story everyone is mystified by the strange Verity-Ann. She keeps herself to herself, and not even Mary-Lou, who?s a new girl too, can understand her. Luckily for everyone involved, the solution to the problem turns up in the end! The book is bound in the original light-blue paper covered boards with black titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear and soiling to the boards. The spine is noticeably faded with a little brown damp marking. The top of the spine is lightly bumped and there is heavier bumping to the bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with light foxing to the top and fore edges of the text block, and on some pages the foxing has seeped a little way into the fore and/or top edge. There is no inscription.
