    Condition: Fair. 1928. 313 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth. Pages are moderately tanned with noticeable foxing throughout. Slight crinkling to paper at gutters, however binding remains firm. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Occasional dog-eared corners. Thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have visible edge wear with corner bumping. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is darkened. Water marks overall. Book has a slight forward lean.

Spine a bit sunned, with partial cloth splits to joints neatly repaired; page edges yellowed; else a VG clean and unworn jacketless copy, no owner names. "The story of a Cahtolic Chaplain in the Great War. Stirring experiences of one who carried the Divine Blessing to hospital, camp and front line trench." - jacket of a later printing. Father Benedict Joseph Murdoch was born in 1885 at Chatham, New Brunswick. He served as parish priest in Jacquet River and Douglastown and as a chaplain to the 132nd North Shore Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Forces. Toronto edition was in 1929.

Appears to be the self-published first Canadian edition, with 1928 on title & copyright pages; published in the states five years earlier. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured. Light wear to book; corners rubbed; jacket shows some rubbing & chipping, missing a small piece from the head of the spine. Text clean; 313 pages, b/w frontispiece portrait of the author.
