This book, published on the eve of World War II, gives a coherent account of pacifism, and, what it means in historical context for England; and, what it meant at the time of writing. Quoting from the front fold over panel blurb " . He (the author) lays his finger on the weak spots in the theory and practice of Socialism in this country, and urges us to turn from political socialism to a wider concept, one of human brotherhood. But what he emphasises with remarkable cogency, is the need for the English vanguard to find its true course from English, not foreign, points of reckoning." Minor softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with a cocking of the spine. Rubbing of the lower book edges and the cloth of the board shows a little darkening to the top edge of the front panel.
