Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. J. Stanley (illustrator). [24] pages, illustrated. No date stated. Printed on card, tied with a blue ribbon, and bound in decorated heavy card boards (tree and cottage design on front cover) tied with a red cord. Ribbon and cord are believed to be original. "Designed in England Printed in Germany" the last 3 words are crossed out which may indicate a pre WWI date. Two Title pages, the first with a colour vignette, similar decoration on the last printed page; both colour vignettes are protected by bound-in tissue leaves. Previous owner's name etc neatly on half-title. Generally sound and clean, a little cover-wear, tissue sheets are creased. Overall "Good" or a bit better.

Blue, gilt bordered cloth with a pictorial paste-down on front cover which appears to be made of wood and is in very good condition, all edges gilt, 22 pp., text is in script and on one side of a page only, monochrome in-text illustrations by Rev. Hall. Decorated floral end papers, very light foxing on the first few pages. Light wear to gilt border and extremities. Small smudge on front end paper, very light soiling to rear cover . Wooden Board. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Undated; circa 1890. In blue boards with onlaid thin, wooden illustrated plate. Boards show signs of having had gilt border decoration; this is largely gone but boards are in very good condition with only light bumping and rubbing. Gilt page block edge. Lovely gilt and pale blue decorative end papers. Internally in very good condition with only the odd spot of mild foxing.

The paper is of good quality being both heavy and glossy. The poem is printed in an italic handwritten script. Front hinge is beginning to crack. Scratches to rear board. Corners rubbed and rounded. Only rates G to G+ but uncommon.
