Omnibus edition. *Brigadier Etienne Gerard is a Hussar officer in the French Army during the Napoleonic Wars. The Gerard stories were originally published in the Strand Magazine between 1894 and 1903. The Brigadier also makes an appearance in Uncle Bernac, which was first published in 1896. Rodney Stone, set in the Regency period, was first published in the same year.
