First Edition Signed
Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Condition: GOOD. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. SIGNED and inscribed by the author, 'for Elaine / with all good wishes. / Ursula K. Le Guin / 23 III 93'. [12], 226 pp. 12mo, brown paper over boards backed in black clith, copper gilt spine lettering, blindstamped title to front cover. Tehanu, prematurely billed 'The Last' revisits the world of the first three novels written 20 years prior, exploring dynamics of gender and power in Earthsea in the further adventures of Tenar and Ged. One of Le Guin's masterpieces, it won both the Nebula Award for Science Fiction and the Locus Award for Fantasy, a singular feat. The books owner (presumably Elain the inscribee) underlined and annotated passages relating to women and gender, which are many. Whether that is a flaw or a feature is up to you, but we rather like it. We will also add that the way Le Guin wrote the date is extremely cool.
