Cloth. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Lucien Herve (illustrator). First edition. The first American edition of Pouillon's 'Les Pierres Sauvages', which he wrote while in prison, which reimagines the medieval construction of the Le Thoronet Abbey, illustrated with various photographs. Pouillon wrote this work while he was in prison for his roles in the bankruptcy of the a company that he helped to create, but the novel still won the influential Les Deux Magots award. The contents of this work are told through the diary of the abbey master builder, and ends with notes on 'The Schism', 'The Cloister at Le Thoronet', and 'The Cistercian Order'.Fernand Pouillon (1912-1986) was a French architect, urban planner, building contractor, and writer.
