Hardcover. Condition: New. Sri Aurobindo was born on 15th August 1872 and passed away on the 5th December 1950. He was a prolific writer and engaged with the multiple dimensions of living in terms of political thought, historical inquiry, cultural critiquing, literary and aesthetic thinking and Vedic exegesis. This Renaissance man was single-minded in his pursuit of the spirit and desired after holistic transformation of the human's being. He devised a philosophy of spirituality and also evolved a map for the initiate to follow. However, the discourse that developed later around all these contours hangs like a smoke-screen almost blocking his intellectual trajectory and legacy. Like an Upanishadic seer, he insisted his followers engage with their own inner experiences as he himself had done. He had of course many sides to his personality: the political thinker, the activist, the seeker, the yogi, the philosopher and above all else, the poet. Whatever preoccupations he went through he never let go of the lastthat of the poet. Poetry afforded him the unique blending of inspiration and expression. The search for the mantra or that perfect unity of sabda and artha, sound and sense meant the quest for the ultimate inspiration and expression. This book engages with the holistic philosophy and the post-humanist poetics of Sri Aurobindo coinciding with 150 years of his birth.
