Book First Edition
Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Printing. 292 Pages plus an Eight Page Index. Light marker ink on top line of the UPC on inside front cover. No other marks or stamps on this tight, sqaure book. The author alleges (1993) that the United States had a secret policy to make Israel the loser in the next Middle East war. Goldenberg and Dershowitz believe that Jonathan Pollard's life sentence and solitary confinement was necessary for Weinberger and Bush's (1) political survival and that Pollard was caught undermining America's secret betrayal of Israel. Jonathan Pollard was a navy intelligence officer with access to U.S. satellite data that is essential to Amereica's only reliable ally in the Middle East. The tiny State of Israel con only survive with advance information about missile placements and troop movements in hostile states like Syria and Iraq (1993). This information was suddenly not forthcoming to our oft-affirmend ally, and Pollard eventually learned that this was no mere state Department oversight. There was a secret U.S. policy , overseen by former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, which was designed to weaken Israel and strengthen the hand of her Arab enemies. Known as the Level Battlefield Docdtrine, if fully implelmented, it could have made Israel the loser in the next Middle East war. When Pollard relayed sensitive intelligence matter to our democcratic ally, he was slapped with a life sentence and many months of unprecedented isolation, a punishment as severe as any given to those spoying for the Soviet Union. As documented by both the author, an award-winning political journalist, Pollard has become a cause celebre because of the government's cruel and unusual sentencing and silencing of this reluctant spy. A controversial book that asserts Washington's side of the story is untrue.
