Brick red cloth with spine & cover titles in gilt; 8vo; 421+6pp ads rear; illustrated with frontispiece reproduction after painting by Tsurita plus drawings by Hideo; color pictorial dust jacket. A rifleman's view of the War in the Pacific, up to and including his platoon leader and sniping ventures on Guadalcanal. He wrote it particularly for other riflemen. that would follow in his footsteps. This copy in VG to NF condition with the only blemish being the original owner's name neatly penned to front free endpaper along with his bookplate. The uncommon dust jacket is VG with a vertical closed split at front flap crease and some overall minor wear, spine lettering a bit sunned. One of the 4 "war" titles by this publisher and certainly is one of the more difficult-to-find Samworth titles.
