Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. Maurice Sendak (illustrator). Only one date stated. Light blue illustrated boards with red and black lettering. Ex-library book with old tape marks on both eps front and back, a few very light marks here and there, one tiny hole, and pocket evidence on FFEP. Boards have some wear and a few scuff areas on front and back, edge wear and one corner is worn to board tip. Binding is nice and tight and square. The DJ is clipped with some old tape marks inside, a faint tape shadow on back, but very little wear. Great Sendak illustrations. Protected in Brodart. None of my books are ex-library, remainders or bce unless specified.

First Harper Trophy edition. [See Hanrahan A7]. *Originally published in 1953, and a Newbery Honor book in 1954. (A year later, Sendak and Dejong won the Newbery Medal for The Wheel on the School). In 1962 Meindert Dejong became the first American to receive the International Hans Christian Andersen award. Six of his books were illustrated by Maurice Sendak.

Little Davie lavishes attention on his pet rabbit & saves him when the little animal disappears. Sensitive & riveting tale. Circa early 1980's. DEJONG WON 1962 HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN AWARD.
Condition: good. Dust Jacket Condition: very good. Hbk 182pp illustr in b+w Maurice Sendak dj lightly shelfworn with seme evidence of it having been taped to the boards at some point but not price-clipped (1.40) and now in protective sleeve front endpaper neatly excised half-title page and rear endpaper marked by the same tape residue otherwise a very good clean tight unmarked copy becoming hard to find.

4th imp. very good orange cloth hardcover with very good unclipped dustjacket. 182p. ill. A little black rabbit, much loved by his owner, manages to escape and have adventures. Delightful line drawings.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. ] Hardback, small octavo, appx 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches, illustrated covers printed black/gray/red on light gray cloth pp [viii], 282, VG+/no dj. Very nice copy, clean with a tight binding. NOT an ex-library copy, but back cover logo states "This is the Harper Crest Library Edition." Binding probably reinforced to be stronger than the original trade edition (this copy has blue endpapers with a strip of white cloth visible along both hinges). Externally very clean with a very slight hint of sun fading along extremities (almost not detectable) + very light rubbing corners and ends with very lightly bumped lower corners. Blank page facing page 1 has a youngster's small, red pencil drawing of a smiling girl's head topped with a crown, o/w interior quite nice. Very minor binding anomaly of rather insignificant crease in the cloth running for a few inches along the edge of spine beneath the author's name. RWR5 Children's Illustrated Juvenile.

Spine is tight and square. Pages are clean and crisp. No writing inside. No wear. Spectacular condition. 1954 Newbery Honor recipient.
