Humphrey Carpenter (1946-2005) was an English biographer, writer and radio broadcaster. He is known especially for his biographies of J. R. R. Tolkien and other members of the literary society the Inklings. In this study, he explores the Golden Age of Children's Literature, touching on famous works, such as Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan, and their authors. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in immaculate condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for one small mark to page 136, not affecting the text. Dust wrapper is in excellent condition, with minimal edgewear and a little sunning to the spine.
