Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1971 second edition Writers Workshop / P. Lal (Kolkata [Calcutta], India), 5 1/2 x 8 7/8 inches tall purple Indian handloom cloth hardbound, 31 pp. plus biography of 'transcreator' and publisher's ads. Very slight edgewear to cover. Slight cracking between the blank rear free-endpaper and pastedown, but the binding is quite solid. Otherwise, apart from moderate age toning, a very good copy - clean and unmarked - of the limited edition cloth hardbound, not to be confused with the less expensive (and more common) cloth-covered 'flexibound' edition. In English, with a couple of passages in Sanskrit. ~SP14~ Sanskrit is the primary liturgical language of Hinduism, a philosophical language in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, and a literary language that was in use as a lingua franca in the Indian cultural zone. The corpus of Sanskrit literature encompasses a rich tradition of poetry and drama as well as scientific, technical, philosophical and dharma texts. Sanskrit continues to be widely used as a ceremonial language in Hindu religious rituals and Buddhist practice in the forms of hymns and mantras.
