Paper cover has mild edge-wear with light rubbing and creasing. Some light marking and sunning.

Pages are mildly tanned, but text remains clear. Plates are bright. Binding is firm. Boards and spine have minimal shelf-wear, with mild corner bumping and crushing to ends. Spine and edges are slightly tanned. Gilt remains bright. Boards are slightly bowed. Unclipped jacket. Light tanning to all surfaces, heaviest to spine and edges. Panels have light edgewear, with small tears, chips and creases, heavier to spine ends.

Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.
