Book
8°, 19 cm, kart. Dt. Erstausg. rororo7313. 381 S. : graph. Darst. Insgesamt altersentsprechend gut erhalten: fester Buchblock, ohne Markierungen, Anmerkungen etc. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 240.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm vinyl Rhythm & Blues record, Tamla TM 223, vinyl very-good in a "fair" cardboard jacket which is moderately warped (the JACKET if warped, NOT the vinyl) to corners and heavily dampstained to verso. The cardboard is fairly disreputable (please see scans -- it's NOT a thing of beauty), but fortunately NOT mildewed. The moderately goofy process color image of the band posed with kitchen utensils ("Cover Design by Bill Mitchell," who was apparently operating without adult supervision) is intact, and this jacket has done its job in protecting the vinyl, where most of the value here presumably lies. We've seen this album described with "yellow" labels, but the labels here are white or ivory with the Tamla "double globe" logo in black and reflex blue. Other than "Everybody's Gotta Pay Some Dues," which is credited to Baritone Ronald White ALONG with William Robinson, as well as the Gershwins' "Embraceable You" and a couple of other cuts where producer Barry Gordy, Jr. claimed co-writing credits, lead singer Claudette essentially allowed her husband the piano player to write every song on this mostly slow-dancing album. While thus turning it into "a family affair" might under other circumstances have drawn some skepticism, given that Miss Claudette was also known as "Mrs. William 'Smokey' Robinson," one can only sit in awe. Smokey WROTE THE WHOLE ALBUM. "Produced by Berry Gordy, Jr. / Tamla Records / Manufactured by Motown Record Corp., 2648 W. Grand Blvd. / Detroit, Michigan." This rarely encountered disc (we found it in a box in a barn between bales of hay at an animal shelter) has been known to catalog at $800; here reduced from $280.
