Hardback. x, 36pp. Dark brown paper boards with gilt titles to upper board and a spider's web design. Decorated endpapers. The 24 colour plates all have captioned guards (these are not tipped-in illustrations but bound-in colour pages). In addition to the colour plates are 7 full page line drawings and various in text decorations. Washington Irving's classic tale with some of Rackhams most memorable illustrations. Book in fair condition. Boards generally rubbed and soiled. Some wear to extremities. Some cockling to paper on lower board most likely due to some damp damage at some stage. Some light spotting/toning to endpapers. Front free end paper discoloured. Text block securely bound. A little loss to fore edge of guard to plate opposite p16. Sporadic light spotting and occasional soil mark but generally clean and bright. No jacket. Book.

No jacket. Large format. Profusely illustrated by Arthur Rackham. All colour plates and associated captioned tissue guards are present and in very good condition. 62 pages of text with all illustrations (apart from the frontispiece) following the text. Green boards with darker green lettering to spine and darker green lettering and design to front are very good with minor pushing/bumping to corners, a few small marks, patchy browning (including to spine), the odd minor bump/rub to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/little fraying to the cloth) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Large gift inscription and date in pen to front end-paper. Pages bit tanned. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms. One larger old mark to top edge of a few pages. Inside boards/end-papers faded with the occasional small mark. Occasional marks/scattered foxing to pages. Tissue guards bit tanned with the odd small mark/crease/spots of foxing. No other faults. A nice copy. All books described honestly and accurately. Paypal accepted.

Replete with 24 illustrations applied to every aspect of the copy pastedowns and feps, frontispiece (full colour), and throughout the majority of pages including lovely original captioned tissue guards. Outer condition is fair. Front of original dust jacket with wear and tear to corners, small tear to bottom, small stain to bottom back of jacket worn and torn to top corners. Large closed tear to back of jacket near spine see images. Originally colour surprisingly preserved. The gorgeous pictorial frontage is unaffected. Underneath lie beautifully understated khakibrown pictorial boards with gilt to front. Tanningfoxing to feps and endpapers though this rarely encroaches upon the pages themselves. Overall, a visually evocative rendition with Rackham's iconic watercolour and penink images taking centre stage. book.

Very good condition with some wear to corners of binding. Card mounted on front free end paper indicates this book was given as first prize at a Scottish school sketch club in the year 1932 or 1933.
