Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Printed in the U.S.A. First American Edition, First Printing. 341 pages. The original blue cloth is in very good shape, with a mere hint of rubbing to the extremities; the gilt lettering remains bright on the spine. The interior remains bright and is clean throughout, despite a touch of normal toning; the endpapers are touched just a little more and there are a few freckles to the top edge. The original pictorial dustjacket has protected the book nicely but is now somewhat worn and spotted with a few chips about the edges; it remains unclipped and all text is legible. [Please see multiple images of the actual book.] "The incredible thing about this novel is that such a book could have been written in 1937. It is an utterly devastating attack on the empty pretentiousness of the left-wing intellectual milieu of the 1930's. With the change in political climate which the last 15 years have brought, the time has come for a new appreciation of Wyndham Lewis. The fact is, that Wyndham is not only a prophet, but a writer of the first order." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly---domestic sales sent with 'delivery confirmation' tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking. Please note that, due to COVID-19, overseas shipping may incur unusual delays.

Trade Paperback. First Edition. 36 pages. A thesis presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of Cornell University. First edition (first printing). A near fine typed copy in a clear plastic folder. With holograph single sheet, 11 x 8.5 inches, with comments, presumed from advisor. Conclusion: 'This is some of the best writing I've seen on Lewis. It certainly beats Materer or Kenner, and I think you're much more readable than your most influential theoretical and critical source, Jameson. Your prose is impressive, at times compelling. With some condensation, I think this might be an easily publishable paper. The only problem would be getting out from the shadow of Jameson.'.
