Black and white photo of Bentley-Taylor on the rear turn-in of the dust jacket. Green paper over boards with gilt letters on the spine. Just touches of wear to extremities, covers clean and bright, gilt bright (!), a couple of small spots on fore-edge, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket slightly shelfworn but not price-clipped. In 1938 David Bentley-Taylor [1915-2005] went to China as a member of the China Inland Mission (CIM). He was to go on to become one of the great 20th-century missionary leaders and last survivor of a remarkable group, nicknamed the "sons of the prophets" by the children at CIM's Chefoo school. Chiefly known in Great Britain for his work among students in connection with the Inter-Varsity Fellowship, he visited universities and colleges in Britain, Finland, Sweden and Hungary.
HARDCOVER. Lutterworth Press, 1961. First edition. A very good copy in lightly worn green boards with gilt lettering to the spine. Light foxing to the endpapers and edges and a previous owners name stamp to the front free endpaper. Otherwise internally a nice clean, straight copy. The d/w is also very good.
