Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. The dust jacket is lacking. The book itself has light rubbing to the corners and to the tips of the spine. The color of the spine has faded and is almost a light brown. "First Edition" stated on Title Pg verso. From Ramon Adams, Six-Guns, p. 199, number 659: "A wild tale of a man who trained himself, as he grew up, to be able to kill all the men who took part in the murder of his father. The writer tells of having a horse race with Belle Starr and losing his Winchester to her. He says that when Belle refused to let Edgar Watson take her home from a dance, he hid out on her trail home and shot her, though Watson was never convinced of the crime. Yet Eaton declares that he and his friends heard the shot and chased Watson for a miles and killed his horse in the gun battle which followed, and that Belle's friends hanged Watson with Belle's lariat - a most preposterous tale for we know that Watson was killed in Florida much later. The writer tell about killing the last man on his "wanted list" in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with Pat Garrett looking on and with Garrett's sanction. The book reads like wild West fiction and is filled with doubtful statements. The author turns out to be a regular one-man army, and though just a boy when he started on his chase, he matched his skill against a number of hardened killers. He also gives his version of how the Benders were killed. One reviewer wrote that "books like this one are a distinct menace to western history.". Not Signed.
