No ownership marks/writing present within. Hinges tight, interior pages bright. Toned/mottled end pages. Moderate edge wear/tear/bumping to the covers. A small area of board exposure to the rear upper board tip. Some loss to the gilt on spine panel.

Bound in navy blue cloth with gold lettering on the spine. Price of $3.50 on the front jacket flap. Inscribed (in the year of publication) by Sandburg on the free front endpaper. In 1911, Meserve published (in an edition limited to 100 copies) The Photographs of Abraham Lincoln containing the 100 photographs of Lincoln discovered up to that time. Meserve subsequently discovered additional photographs of Lincoln and new information on the origins and chronology of the photographs. In this new and expanded work, Meserve provides a brief introductory essay and data concerning the origins of each photograph. Sandburg contributes a commentary entitled The Face of Lincoln and a sketch of the life of Frederick Meserve. A nice copy of this important book in a fairly worn dust jacket. A Very Good book with darkening to the pastedowns, very light wear to the edges of the boards, and a few traces of faint foxing to the top textblock in a Fair to Good dustjacket with one large and several smaller chips, and a few tears to the rear panel.
