First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: USED_VERYGOOD. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Written by Felix Marcilhac, ACR Edition, Les Editions de l`Amatueur, First Print. 288 pages, illustrated throughout with photos, drawings, and facsimiles. Page 159 is numbered but blank. (printing error?) Heavy stock paper is used but the rich colors are not done justice with my insufficient photos, sorry. For the book, some dust spotting to the top edges, binding not as tight as new but holding very well for a book of there dimensions, small bit of dust/shelfwear to the bottom corner of the text block. Interior clean and bright but the sewn-in bookmark could use a good pressing. The dust jacket has a light fading to the spine and the top of the spine has some short tears, bit of rub-through at the corner tips. There are also two short tears to the bottom edge in the front. Lastly, previous owner has written in pencil to the inside front flap. An archival Brodart makes it look great! "Jacques Majorelle grew up in France. He was the son of a famous cabinetmaker from Nancy, Louis Majorelle. When he began his travels, he was immediately attracted to the South of Morocco. The sensitivity of his work distinguishes him amongst the Orientalist painters. He sought to understand the subtle nuances of life in the country he loved. Whether painting landscapes from the Atlas or scenes within a casbah, he infused his subjects with poetry and captured the authentic personality of the South." An incredibly scarce and beautiful book that will enhance any library of collection. Additional photos emailed upon request. Additional shipping will be required for overseas post. (case).
