Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+ dj. First Edition. [minor shelfwear, spine cloth faded, some fading to cloth around edges of covers; jacket a little darkened at spine, minor wear to bottom corners]. An early work by Boyle (her fourth published novel), "the story of an American girl who drifts from the middle west to New York, and finally to Paris, in her search for life as well as for a living. It is the story of her first experiences in love and what they bring her to. . . . Unlike other books about American exiles, this story is filled with a nostalgia and longing for American voices and words and substances as well as for the American scene.".

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. First edition stated of I think Boyle's forth novel. She was part of the decadent art and literary heyday in the Paris of the 20's and 30's. Bound in green cloth with silver title on spine. Dust jacket and cloth spine are sunned, bleaching cloth and browning jacket. Mild chipping with loss to jacket at head and tail. This book is really much better than it sounds, if not for sunning would approach fine.

Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. The first edition, published by Harcourt Brace and Company in 1934. Quite uncommon in dust jacket. Bound in green cloth. There is a trace of light staining to the verso of the half title just at the point where it abuts the gutter. The cloth has faded at the spine, and somewhat irregularly to the rear board. The extremely uncommon dust jacket has such minor wear that it might reasonably be described as fine. A lovely jacket.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Included. 1st Edition. First UK edition. 8vo. Original blue cloth. Dust-jacket, priced 7s6d. A very good first UK edition of this early novel by one of the 'Lost Generation' writers, a semi-autobiographical k??nstlerroman set around an artists' commune on the outskirts Paris. Boyle was a prolific writer and poet, and a successful journalist until falling prey to the McCarthy witch hunts. Ink name to front endpaper, overall an excellent example of the book; jacket with very minor rubbing and chipping to extremities, small redaction to printed price on lower panel, but overall a very good example.
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First Edition. Boyle's fourth novel. Typical sunning to cloth on spine and edges, else near fine, with contemporary bookplate on pastedown, in near fine dustjacket with short closed tear at top edge of front panel which is neatly repaired on reverse side. A clean and bright copy with no fading or toning to dustjacket.
