Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition Hardcover Inscribed. Cloth edition. Inscribed on the half title page to friends by one of the authors, William A.Baker, who was Curator of the Francis Russell Hart Nautical Museum at M.I.T. The book is immaculate; clean, tight and unmarked. The DJ is in very good condition with just some wear along the top edge. Tucked into the book are a brochure introducing the American Maritime Library, a book review from the Maine Sunday Telegram dated 7/8/1993, a note from Mr. Baker to George Putz thanking him for a review of the book in the "National Fisherman", and a typed response to that note from Mr Putz of Vinalhaven. Mr. Baker's note was addressing an item in his chapter that described the days when lobsters were so plentiful along the Maine coast that "one VInalhaven fisherman reportedly caught 900 lobsters in one day, reportedly picking them up by hand." The authors were all eminent Maritime Historians who taught in a summer graduate program at Mystic Seaport. 125 illustrations in black and white. 10"x7". 299 pp. Inscribed by Author(s).
