Bibl.-Expl., tlw. etw. stockfleckig, leichte Gbrsp. - Bergpechöl oder Asphalt, Bitumen asphaltum L. ein dunkelschwarzes Erdharz, welches hart, zerbrechlich, von glänzendem Bruche, an sich geruchlos und ohne Geschmack ist. Der Asphalt ist seit langen Zeiten äusserlich vor sich, in Pflastern, in Salben und als Räucherung für ein wundheilendes Mittel gehalten worden. - Leuthner war Leibarzt von Maximilian III. und tätig am Krankenhaus in Giesing.
