Revised, corrected, and very much improved, with many new additions, by James Meader, late gardener to the Earl of Chesterfield. FIRST EDITION 1771, 2 LEAVES MISSING FROM PRELIMS, pages 3-6, now replaced with facsimiles. 8vo, approximately 175 x 100 mm, 7 x 4 inches, 13 engraved illustrations, 1 folding, pages: 8, 1-530 plus 1 advert leaf, bound in quarter modern calf, green gilt lettered label, gilt rules and gilt name and date to spine, marbled boards, new black endpapers. First free endpaper soiled with old ink names and text, page 530 and last blank with old ink name and date, 1776, pale damp stain affecting top and bottom margins, just running into text of about 60 pages, 2 leaves facing each other have closed tear at lower part neatly repaired, no loss to text, small ink splash to 1 index page, all text legible, small ink spots affect some pages at end, a few other minor spots or stains, otherwise a good copy.
