Prof. Perry (1833-89, F.R.S., 1874), the English astronomer who made magnetic surveys of France and Belgium (1868-71) and observed transits of Venus (1874 & 1882). The light rubberstamp of the Jesuit College at Stonyhurst (where Perry taught) on title. Head and foot of spine slightly frayed, small label removed at foot of spine, inner hinges a bit weak; internally, a very good copy. Like the recipient of this copy, Lloyd (1800-81), Erasmus Professor of Natural and Experimental Philosophy at Dublin, conducted numerous studies on terrestrial magnetism, particularly in Ireland, and those published memoirs, along with his earlier important papers on light, are collected here.
