Crown and foot of spine folded slightly in toward pages, foot beginning to fray at corners. Small closed tears at either side of both crown and foot. Corners of covers also beginning to fray, each shows one or two small open tears, revealing a glimpse of the boards. Two notable spots of discoloration to a near-white color on front color, two on back. None larger than an inch, notext obstructed. All appears to be shelf wear. No date on title page. Copyright page dated only 1940. 376 pages. Features foreword by the 1940 president of the American Museum of Natural History and many black and white photographs throughout, including several of the Johnsons with King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Binding loosening along hinges but uncracked. Spine detached from binding of pages, but pages neat and spine secured along hinges. Pages lightly and evenly toned, all text and photographs pristine.
