Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Harper & Brothers, copyright 1903, New York. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: None. No indication concerning the edition nor any printing history; the copyright page does have "F-N" near the bottom, which for Harpers means it was published in June (F) in 1913 (N). Part of a 25 volume set of Twain's writings. 8-3/8" tall, 366 numbered pages followed by an unnumbered last page of text; one-piece plain khaki/green cloth covered boards, gilt lettering on spine, front board is plain; plain ivory end pages; fore edge and bottom edge are rough cut, top edge is gilt. The book is in Very Good condition and may have been read: it has a very slight lean, is very clean, corners and edges free of bumps and dings, heel of spine lightly bumped, head of spine is pulled; lettering slightly damaged but still perfectly readable; hinges are very tight and not damaged in any fashion; starting at p. 277, fore edge and top edge have a brown stain that covers about 1 vertical inch and 1-1/2 horizontal inches but penetrates only 1/4" and does not affect the text. Other than those minor stains, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, other stains and page damage of any type. Spine is intact and not cracked or otherwise damaged. Paper is very lightly toned and is very flexible; pages are tight and clean with no marks. There is a frontis plus 2 illustrations. The following declaration is just after the FFEP: "This is the authorized Uniform Edition of all my books. Mark Twain". Condition of book consistent with being gently read. No other discernible or objectionable faults on book such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no previous owner markings or inscriptions, not price clipped, not a book club edition, not a former library book.
