André Tillieu le bruxellois, très proche ami et biographe de Georges Brassens, entretint une correspondance épistolaire avec Alphonse Boudard sur presque trente ans, de 1972 jusqu'à la mort de ce dernier en 2000. L'écrivain gouailleur parisien lui témoigna très rapidement son amitié, le considérant comme l'un des rares critiques à le comprendre parfaitement au point d'expliquer clairement dans ses chroniques ce que lui-même exprimait qu'incomplètement et parfois confusément dans ses livres. André Tillieu fit dès lors partie du petit cercle des véritables amis d'Alphonse Boudard au même titre que le Gros Georges (Georges Brassens), le Niçois (Louis Nucéra) et René Fallet avec lesquels il aimait partager de plantureux repas bien arrosés et les virées cyclistes. Cette missive est d'ailleurs écrite depuis le domicile de Louis Nucéra chez qui Alphonse Boudard passe quelques jours de vacances estivales chaque année.
