No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Kensuke Koike (illustrator). Very Good; newsprint supplement. The Lying Life of Adults - Pre-publication English Language Excerpt, in The New York Times Magazine Supplement. New York: Europa Editions / New York Times Magazine, August 16, 2020. A newsprint-size supplement, Atlas Folio size. a strong Very Good for a newsprint item, with some inevitable toning and of course folding. See scans. photographs are by Kensuke Koike. The pen-scrawls were in fact printed and intentional, as part of the production design, presumably as something depicted as scrawls by the novel's protagonist, twelve-year-old Giovanna Trada. Author Elena Ferrante writes pseudonymously, perhaps because of the passionate, interpersonal nature of her work, and perhaps because some of it deals with the Mafia. Some literary journalists do claim to know her identity. This excerpt publication is just 11 pages internally, plus the covers, but it is substantial in its totals words, even with some of the space being occupied by Kensuke Koike's artful photographs. A scarce predessor, by two weeks, of the English language publication of the novel. For the collector. Ships in very stout protection, of course. L19.
