SOBRE EL AUTOR:: José María Rodríguez Méndez (Madrid, 6 de junio de 1925 - Aranjuez, Madrid, 21 de octubre de 2009), escritor y dramaturgo español.Nació en la ciudad de Madrid en el año 1925. Emigró, tras la guerra civil española, con su familia a Barcelona, donde cursó sus estudios de bachillerato. Cursó estudios de Derecho en la Universidad de Barcelona e ingresó en el TEU (Teatro Español Universitario) de Barcelona. En 1948 fundó la revista poética Verde Viento y tres años más tarde La Calandria. En 1950 obtuvo la licenciatura en Derecho en la Universidad de Zaragoza.En Barcelona, trabajó en la compañía de teatro de Francisco Melgares. También ejerció de apuntador en el Teatro de Cámara dirigido pot José Luis Alonso. En 1958, de vuelta en Barcelona, ingresó en el grupo teatral «La Pipironda».El escritor y dramaturgo madrileño José María Rodríguez Méndez, autor de Flor de Otoño o Bodas que fueron famosas del pingajo y la fandanga, falleció el pasado miércoles en Madrid a los 84 años, según ha informado a Efe la Asociación de Autores de Teatro. La capilla ardiente de Rodríguez Méndez se ha instalado en los velatorios del tanatorio Ciudad de Aranjuez, en la localidad madrileña, y la incineración de sus restos será al mediodía de hoy jueves en el crematorio de Pinto. El fallecido, coetáneo de Alfonso Sastre y Antonio Buero Vallejo, era uno de los máximos exponentes de la Generación Realista, además de Premio Nacional de Literatura Dramática (1994) por El pájaro solitario y Premio Max Honorífico (2005). Aunque nació en Madrid, el 6 de junio de 1925, se crió en Barcelona y allí estudió primaria y bachiller para licenciarse luego en Derecho en Zaragoza. Después, en 1982 y tras haber estudiado teatro, se trasladó a Madrid, donde ejerció de apuntador en el Teatro de Cámara, que dirigía José Luis Alonso. Viajó por Argentina y volvió a Barcelona en 1958, donde se unió al grupo teatral La Pipironda. Hasta 1976, la censura apenas le deja estrenar sus obras y las que fueron permitidas sólo se representaban una vez. Por eso, el dramaturgo aseguraba en una entrevista con EFE poco antes de que le entregaran el Premio Max de Honor, que había tenido una vida "dura y difícil", en la que había tenido que "resistir". "Mi obra es de resistencia, porque siempre he estado más o menos marginado. Pero la soledad, que es dura y amarga, se presta a la reflexión", explicaba entonces. A comienzos de los años 50 comenzó a trabajar con autores de posguerra como Muñiz y Lauro Olmo o Martín Recuerda y de esa época es su primer texto, Los vagones de madera (1959), pero la consagración no le llegó hasta 1964, cuando logró el Premio Larra de Teatro por "los inocentes de La Moncloa", sobre la tragedia de unos jóvenes opositores en Madrid. En 1978 se estrenó otro de sus textos más representativos, Bodas que fueron famosas del pingajo y la fandanga, dirigido por José Luis Gómez, con un reparto encabezado por Manuel Aleixandre, José Bodalo, Encarna Paso e Imanol Arias. En su obra dramática destacan, entre otros, los títulos Historia de unos cuantos (1963); La vendimia de Francia (1964); El vano ayer (1966); El hospital de los podridos (1972); Flor de otoño (1974), que Pedro Olea convirtió en película en 1978; Teresa de Ávila (1981); El pájaro solitario (1994) o Última batalla en El Pardo (2003). Como novelista fue galardonado con el Premio Tigre Juan de Novela Corta por Cosas de la Transición y cultivó el ensayo con obras como Sobre el machismo español (1971), Comentarios impertinentes sobre el teatro español (1971) o La incultura teatral en España (1974). La sede del Centro Dramático Nacional (CDN), el madrileño teatro María Guerrero, donde Rodríguez Méndez llegó a trabajar como apuntador y traductor, presentó en 2005, el mismo año en el que le concedieron el Premio Max, su obra "Flor de otoño", dirigida por Ignacio García e interpretada por Fele Martínez.
