Markey" on the front endpaper and inscribed with sketch to "Thomas Cormack this fine portrait of his father (with portraits of some lesser lights) G. Markey Chicago, 1926." "His father" reference is to Thomas Cormack's father, Bartlett Cormack, playwright, screenwriter. The nearly waist-length caricature sketch of Bartlett Cormack is 5 inches in height. Author Eugene Willford "Gene" Markey (1895-1980) was a producer, screenwriter, and decorated naval officer. Markey and Bartlett Cormack both lived and worked in Chicago during the 1920s. In 1927 Cormack moved to New York City. Later, both Markey and Cormack were part of Ben Hecht's group of subcontract writers in Hollywood in the early 1930s.; Illustrated; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Signed by Illustrator.
