First Edition
Cloth. Condition: Very Good Indeed. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Not Stated (illustrator). First edition. Two biographies on the British monarchs King James II and Queen Anne, in the unclipped dust wrappers. The first edition of these volumes in the publisher's original cloth bindings, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Illustrated with 16 pages of colour plates to both volumes. Collated, complete. In Peter Earle's biography of King James II, he seeks to discover the true nature of this enigmatic monarch - whether soldier, sailor, failure, or saint. In Gila Curtis's biography of Queen Anne, she shows that this monarch was perhaps not as incongruous to the times in which she reigned as previously thought. With introductions by general editor Antonia Fraser. In publisher's original cloth bindings, with original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, cloth is in immaculate condition, with bright colour and gilt. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. A little shelf wear to the dust wrappers, which otherwise remain bright and smart. Very Good Indeed. book.
