Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. This is David Eddings' first novel, which Ahearn reports has having doubled in value between 1995 and 2000. It is a straightforward look at sibling animosity, life in a trailer park and differing views of men who served during the Vietnam war. The story explores the base instincts of the human species from many different angles and is not prettied up. This copy has gone through our book conservancy program to have a library stamp removed and the red pastedowns/endpapers professionally replaced. What results is an unmarked, very clean, crisp and tight copy of a highly collectible first edition. The black cloth boards with gold gilt titles are in wonderful condition -- no soil, rubbing, bumping or edgewear. The spine is slightly rolled/concave but straight and otherwise square. The dust jacket was preserved in mylar and is sharp-edged and bright with some very slight fading to the spine. No clipping, tears, chips or fraying. Overall a really nice copy of an important title.
