Bound in brown half-cloth over striped, printed paper-covered boards, metallic copper lettering stamped on spine. In the color-illustrated dust jacket, unclipped. Inscribed by the author on the title page. This copy was a gift from Henkes to one of his mentors, Barbara Bader, author of "American Picturebooks from Noah's Art to The Beast Within." Henkes dedicated his book "Sun Flower Lion" to Bader. On the title page Henkes' has illustrated a bird shouting "To Barbara with admiration & affection - Kevin - 2007." A choice association connecting an authority in children's literature with one of today's accomplished practitioners. Dust jacket is now protected in a clear, removable, archival sleeve.
