Phillips Oppenheim was an English novelist best known for his successful genre fiction, with over 100 novels published between 1887 and 1943. In 1927 he featured on the cover of Time magazine. With four pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of the first volume. Both with the half title pages. Ink inscription from the previous owners dated 1942, to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the edges. Light fading to the spine. A few marks to the boards of volume two. Light staining to the rear board of volume two. Scattered spots to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Offsetting to the free endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper of volume two. Bookseller's label to the front paste-down of volume two. The original unclipped dust wrappers are in smart condition.
