The front cover has some minor fading along the bottom. The top and bottom of the spine are scuffed. The dust jacket has some tearing on the spine and the corners. Book has 25 color plates, 175 black and white plates, and 116 text illustrations. Chapters include "In the Time of the Pharaohs.," "Gardens of Islam", "Gardens of Old China.", and many more. It is an excellent history tome as well as the author provides much information about the social environment of the time. All proceeds benefit the Arboretum Library of the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden.
