Leben: Ruth Rendell wurde als Ruth Barbara Grasemann in London geboren, ihre Eltern waren beide Lehrer. Sie ging in Loughton, Essex zur Schule und arbeitete danach einige Zeit als Journalistin bei einer kleinen Wochenzeitschrift.
